Is my Maytag really a Whirlpool?
Underneath, largely yes — Whirlpool has owned Maytag since 2006 and the platforms are shared. For a repair that is good news: parts are common, cheap and quickly available, and our technicians see the same mechanisms across four badges.
Maytag advertises a ten-year warranty. Does that cover this?
Often the parts but not the labour, and only on specific components — typically the motor and the drum on laundry. It is worth checking your paperwork before authorising a repair, and we will point it out if we think a part might be covered.
How long can a built-in go without cooling before food is a write-off?
About four hours with the doors kept shut, and a full cabinet holds on considerably longer than an empty one. Past that, treat dairy, raw meat and anything already opened as gone regardless of how it looks.
Is it cheaper to just buy a new one?
Sometimes, and we would rather say so. Volume-brand parts are cheap and available, which makes most repairs comfortably worth doing — but on a major assembly in an older unit the repair can approach replacement, and that is a real answer rather than a sales one.
What does Maytag refrigerator repair cost?
It depends entirely on which component failed, so we quote after the diagnosis rather than over the phone. The diagnostic fee is flat and quoted when you book, and the repair quote is written and agreed before anyone starts — we publish
what a refrigerator repair usually runs if you want a sense of the range first.
Is my unit still under manufacturer warranty?
If it is, the repair should go through Maytag's own authorised network to keep that cover intact — we work exclusively out of warranty. Read us the model and serial when you call and we will tell you if we think you are still covered, rather than finding out after.
