Common Problems We Fix

DCS Range Symptoms We See Most

Range Won't Turn On Burner Flame Too High or Low

Local conditions that matter here

At this altitude there is materially less oxygen for combustion, and appliances shipped with sea-level orifices run rich until they are converted. That shows up as yellow-tipping burners, sooting and slow recovery — symptoms that look like a failing valve and are usually a conversion that never happened.

Why These Failures Happen

1
Two appliances sharing a cabinet — on dual-fuel a gas cooktop and an electric oven fail independently, so half the appliance working is normal rather than reassuring
2
High-output burners run hotter than the parts around them — igniters, electrodes and valve seals age faster next to a professional-grade burner than they would on a standard range
3
Altitude changes the fuel-air mix — a range jetted for sea level runs rich here, and the sooting and slow boil that follows reads as a fault when it is a conversion that never happened

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you repair DCS outdoor grills?
Yes — DCS's built-in grill line uses ignition and burner technology specific to outdoor cooking, and it's something we diagnose regularly.
Is DCS repair different from indoor range repair?
The cooking electronics are similar to DCS's indoor ranges, but grills add weather-exposure and ignition considerations an indoor unit doesn't have.
Does my gas range need high-altitude conversion here?
Very likely, yes. Gas burners are jetted for a specific altitude band, and a range set up for sea level runs rich across the Front Range — yellow-tipping flames, soot on burner caps and pan bottoms, and a cooktop that never quite boils as fast as it should. Manufacturers supply high-altitude orifice kits for exactly this. Most units bought and installed locally are already converted, but appliances that moved with you from out of state frequently never were, and it is one of the first things we check on a cooking call.
Can I use the oven if the cooktop is out, or the other way round?
On most dual-fuel and freestanding ranges, yes — they are largely separate systems sharing a cabinet. The exception is a fault on a shared control board, which takes both out at once and is usually obvious.
Is this brand more expensive to repair than a mainstream one?
The labour is comparable; the parts are not always. Some components come through a distributor rather than off a shelf, which shows up as cost and occasionally as an extra day. We tell you which at diagnosis.
What does DCS range repair cost?
It depends entirely on which component failed, so we quote after the diagnosis rather than over the phone. The diagnostic fee is flat and quoted when you book, and the repair quote is written and agreed before anyone starts — we publish our published cost ranges by fault if you want a sense of the range first.
Is my unit still under manufacturer warranty?
If it is, the repair should go through DCS's own authorised network to keep that cover intact — we work exclusively out of warranty. Read us the model and serial when you call and we will tell you if we think you are still covered, rather than finding out after.
